A raging fire shot flames 10 feet into the air early Friday morning and destroyed a ranch-style home in a central Arvada neighborhood that was being renovated.

As they poured water on the fire, firefighters conducted a sweep of the home at the corner of West 60th Avenue and Miller Street to make sure no one was inside, Arvada Fire Protection District deputy fire marshal Deanna Harrington said. No one was killed or injured in the fire.

When Arvada firefighters pulled up just after 3 a.m., the home was fully engulfed. Crews were mopping up by 5 a.m.

“There was very significant damage to the house,” Harrington said.

Investigators remain on the scene trying to determine the point of origin and cause of the fire, she said.
