
A man and a 6-year-old child died Friday afternoon in a Colorado Springs fire, and a 2-year-old is in critical condition.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. in a duplex in the 700 block of East Cucharras Street, said Lt. Howard Black, a police department spokesman.

The man died on scene and the two children were taken to a hospital where the 6-year-old was pronounced dead. The 2-year-old has been flown by helicopter to Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora, Black said.
Police investigators aid the fire department investigators in fatal fires. Preliminary indications do not point to foul play, Black said.
The identities of the victims were not released. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
