Eldora Mountain’s new high-speed chairlift won’t carry its first riders up the mountain this Friday, when the Boulder County ski area had been slated to open its season.

On Monday, Eldora announced the delay of opening weekend via Twitter, after seeing the snow from last week’s storm melt off the mountain.

“Similar to last season, the weather hasn’t cooperated as we had been hoping,” spokesman Sam Bass said last week before making the official decision. “We haven’t had the consistent low temperatures needed to make snow, and this week’s storm only left us with 2 to 4 inches and now it’s sunny and warm again up here.”
