FORT COLLINS — A trip to Jamaica in mid-November is certainly enticing. And for Colorado State, maybe a little too enticing for much of Tuesday night’s game against Winthrop.
The Rams were due to leave for the Caribbean island around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning. But hours before that, they had to face the defending Big South champions. Perhaps a bit distracted by their upcoming travel plans, Colorado State fell down by 14 points early in the second half before storming back for an 80-76 victory at Moby Arena.

Junior guard scored 13 of his team-best 16 points to help spark the second-half comeback, an effort aided by first-year Rams Deion James (14 points) and Raquan Mitchell (11), a pair of junior college transfers who gave the team a huge lift off the bench. added 11 points and grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds to help CSU to a dominant 51-29 advantage on the glass.
The Rams (2-0) will now head to the Caribbean to face Tulane on Friday followed by a matchup with Florida State on Sunday. And they’re not going down there for a vacation.
