Englewood police respond to explosion, find dead man at scrap-metal yard

Victim likely died in industrial accident, investigators believe

A man was killed at an Englewood recycling yard Friday morning in what police say may have been an industrial accident.

The death occurred at All Recycling, 1775 W. Wesley Ave., in Englewood. Police, firefighters and paramedics were dispatched to the facility at 8:30 a.m. on reports of an explosion and found one man dead.

The victim’s identity has not been released.

Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the accident and killed the man.

“We just don’t know,” Sgt. Chad Read with the Englewood police said. “Our investigators are up there working with their staff.”

All Recycling claims to be . The Englewood facility is its main yard. Safety officials with the company did immediately respond to a request for comment on this story Friday morning.
