The men chipped in $90 to buy the food which they prepared themselves starting about 5 a.m. Folding tables and chairs occupied the space normally taken by the station's two trucks, which were parked-waiting-outside. The men kept their ears tuned to fire dispatcher radio, but weren't called until hour after families had left.
