Scheifele, fromKitchener, Ontario, is playing with linemates Blake Wheeler and Kyle Connor, and each player had a goal and two assists in Winnipeg’s 7-2 triumph over visiting Minnesota on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 210-poundsScheifele seems to be the Jets’ catalyst.

Jets(15-6-3):Wheeler played in his 500th game for the /Atlanta Thrashers franchise in Monday’s win over Minnesota. … The Jets have won 15 of 24 games, the quickest to 15 wins in franchise history, and their plus-16 mark in goals for/against is second best in the Western Conference. They have won four straight games and seven of their last eight at home. Winnipeg is 7-4-2 on the road. … The Jets are sixth in NHL scoring (3.29) and seventh in goals against (2.67). … Winnipeg recently added 22-year-old goalie Eric Comrie, the younger brother of former Denver Pioneers star forward Paul Comrie. Eric Comrie considered DU before going the major-junior route to the NHL. Comrie, who might play against the Avs, made his NHL debut April 6 at Columbus and had a 35-save win.
Avalanche (11-9-2): Captain Gabe Landeskog will begin to serve his four-game suspension for the cross check to the head of Calgary forward Matthew Tkachuk in Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the visiting Flames. Landeskog will miss the remainder of Colorado’s five-game homestand. … will start in net, his first action since taking the 5-2 loss at Nashville on Nov 18. Varlamov missed the last four games because of illness. He will be backed up by Jonathan Bernier, who went 2-1-1 in Varlamov’s absence. Forward Colin Wilson (groin/hip) is questionable. Defenseman Anton Lindholm is expected to be cleared to play after missing nine games with a broken jaw. … Forward Vladislav Kamenev (arm) and defenseman Patrik Nemeth (lower body) remain out long-term.
