An Aurora fire station under construction caught fire Wednesday.

The two-alarm blaze is at Fire Station 15, 1880 S. Flat Rock Trail, according to the fire department. The two-story, 12,850-square-foot station is near the intersection of East Jewel Avenue and Flat Rock, according to planning documents.

tweeted a photo of the station on fire.

Aurora firefighters, with assistance from South Metro Fire Resuce, responded about 5 p.m., according to Twitter posts.

The new station, in the Murphy Creek area, was scheduled to be up and running early in 2018, said Lt. Laure Bridges, a fire department spokeswoman.

The fire was concentrated in the attic of the building, Bridges said. Gusty winds on Wednesday were a concern for firefighters, who fought to ensure that the structure fire did not spread.

There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
