Authorities shut down several Weld County roads near the Greeley-Weld Airport on Tuesday while responding to a large plume of natural gas that was visible from a great distance.
Roz Elliott, spokeswoman for DCP Midstream, which owns the pipeline, confirmed late Tuesday that one of the company’s pipelines did “experience a gas release” but there was no explosion or fire involved. Elliott said a third-party construction company struck the line and caused the leak, but she didn’t have more information.
She said the pipeline was shut off quickly and area evacuations were precautionary.
There were no injuries reported.
