A gunman in an armed robbery and two carjackings remains at large in Pueblo, and police on Wednesday released a photo of the suspect.

Omar Antonio Valdez, 24, allegedly committed an armed robbery about 4 p.m. Monday at a Walmart store, 4080 W. Northern Ave., according to a news release. After the robbery, Valdez allegedly menaced a Pueblo police officer and committed two carjackings in which he fired shots, police said.

Valdez is wanted on suspicion of robbery, menacing and two counts of first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, according to the release. He has additional active arrest warrants out of El Paso County for failure to appear, burglary, first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, criminal trespass and obstruction of a police officer.

Police said there was a carjacking Wednesday morning in the 1200 block of West 29th Street. A 2006 blue Mercedes R350 with Colorado license plate UEQ-505 was stolen at gunpoint. Shots were fired during the robbery. It’s not clear if the Wednesday incident is tied to Valdez.

Anyone with information on Valdez’s whereabouts or with information on the Mercedes carjacking is asked to call 911 or Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-7867 (STOP).

Valdez is considered armed and dangerous.
