Getting your player ready...

Pavin Smith made his parents cry for Christmas. But these were tears of joy.

The Arizona Diamondbacks’ first-base prospect — who was originally drafted by the Rockies in the 32nd round of the 2014 MLB draft — received a signing bonus of more than $5 million after being drafted with the seventh overall pick in the 2017 draft. He spent some of that money by surprising his parents and paying off their mortgage.
