Those hoping to watch downtown Denver’s 16th annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks on Sunday should wear layers. Lots and lots of layers.
The eight-minute firework display will go off once at 9 p.m. and then again at midnight. This year, Downtown Denver Partnership says there will be close to 75 color changes and nearly 15,000 aerial effects between the two shows.
The high Sunday is expected to be in the upper 20s, dropping down to 8 degrees at night, according to the National Weather Service. The night should be dry, though. The fireworks will only be canceled if high winds occur, which is not forecasted.
DJ’s will start playing along 16th Street Mall at 8 p.m., continuing on till midnight.
