President Donald Trump on Sunday morning tweeted condolences to the Douglas County sheriff’s deputies shot while responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in Highlands Ranch.

Deputy Zackari Parrish, 29, was killed in the shooting, Sheriff Tony Spurlock said. He was shot multiple times, Spurlock said. Parrish had been a deputy for seven months, joining the sheriff’s office from the Castle Rock Police Department, where he served for two years. He is survived by his wife and two children.

The shooting occurred inside the suspect’s apartment in what Spurlock described as an ambush. Three other deputies were wounded by the gunman, as was a Castle Rock police officer. Two civilians, who were not directly involved in the disturbance, suffered what Spurlock said were injuries that were not life-threatening.

The suspect was shot and killed by police officers.

Spurlock said the injured Douglas County officers were Mike Doyle, 28; Taylor Davis, 30; and 32-year-old Jeff Pelle, son of Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle. Castle Rock Police officer Tom O’Donnell, 41, also was shot. All of the officers are in stable condition, Spurlock said.
