Denver police arrest man in New Year’s Eve shooting death outside strip club

Denver detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after a shooting death outside a strip club on New Year’s Eve morning.

Jared Chavez, 25, is being held for investigation of second-degree murder, according to a tweet Monday from the Denver Police Department. Jail records say he is being held without bond.

The shooting happened at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday. Police said the shooting took place outside a business at 214 S. Federal Blvd. That’s the address for Dandy Dan’s, a strip club.

The name of the victim, a man, has not been released. He was raced to the hospital but later pronounced dead. Police have also not released details about what led up to the shooting.
