Two men stole a Pomeranian puppy from the Town and Country Pet Center in Loveland early Friday morning in the latest break-in at the store, which has seen at least 13 thefts and burglaries since 1990.
The Pomeranian was worth about $1,500 and was the second most valuable puppy in the store, at 130 S. Cleveland Ave, said co-owner Mark Aine, who owns the shop with his wife, Sharon Aine. Nothing else was stolen, though the thieves attempted to also break into the cash register, Mark Aine said.
The Loveland Police Department responded to a call about the break-in, but the department is unable to provide information on the case because an investigation is ongoing, said police Sgt. Ryan Ertman.
According to Mark Aine, the thieves first attempted to break into the building through a attached shed and were unsuccessful, though they “destroyed” one of the building’s walls.
The couple have security cameras installed and were able to review the entire crime, which occurred about 4:30 a.m.
