Spotlight on Ondrej Kase:
The Ducks’ 22-year-old forward had two goals and an assist in Saturday’s 4-2 win over the Kings in Los Angeles, and he is tied with Jakob Silfverberg for second on the team with 11 goals. Kase, from Kadan, Czech Republic, was the sixth-to-last selection of the 2014 draft, going 205th overall in the seventh round. No other seventh-round pick that year has played in the NHL.

Ducks: Forward Andrew Cogliano on Sunday was suspended two games by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, thus his 830-game ironman streak — fourth-longest consecutive game streak in NHL history — will end Monday. Cogliano, who hasn’t missed an NHL game since joining the out of the University of Michigan, was suspended for his late check on Kings forward Adrian Kempe. … The Ducks lost 3-1 at Colorado on Oct. 13 with a handful of their top players on the injured list, including captain Ryan Getzlaf. They’re now back at full strength.
Avalanche: The Avs, who are coming off a 4-1 victory Saturday at Dallas, are beginning a three-game homestand and take a six-game winning streak into Monday. They have won five straight at home. After the homestand, Colorado plays 13-of-16 games on the road. “It’s important to play well here and get these points,” coach said Sunday. “It’s a challenge every night, but going out on the road in late January, early February, it’s a road-heavy schedule. We know the challenges that it presents to our team and the competition that we’re facing at that time. It will be a lot of tough work and travel that come with it, so these next three games at home are big for us.” … Goalie Jonathan Bernier will make his third consecutive appearance as the No. 1 guy. Bernier was fabulous Saturday, making 27 saves against the Stars. … Forwards (upper-body injury) and (leg) won’t play Monday. Defenseman Tyson Barrie (hand) and goalie (groin) also won’t play.
