
DALLAS — The Avalanache won its sixth consecutive game Saturday, defeating the Dallas Stars 4-1 at the American Airlines Center. Game story is here.

- Jonathan Bernier. Avs’ goalie was fabulous, stopping two breakaway bids as part of his 27-save effort.
- Alex Kerfoot. The rookie center had a goal and the game-winning assist.
- Blake Comeau. Colorado winger was the game’s most physical forward and scored the insurance goal.
WHAT YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED
Saturday was the 50th anniversary of Bill Masterton’s on-ice injuries that led to his death two days later, on Jan. 15, 1968. Masterton, the only NHL player to die from injuries from a game, is considered one of the best players in University of Denver history and has an NHL award named in his honor.
