Your article about theĀ 70 or so members of Congress proposing a spending billĀ amendment that would ensure protections for states that have legalized marijuana caught my attention. First of all, AttorneyĀ GeneralĀ Jeff Sessions is not ā€œinterferingā€ with states’ laws legalizing the drug. Sessions is followingĀ federal law. MarijuanaĀ has been on the federal government¶¶Ņõap list of harmful drugs for many years. His mantra seems to be: We are a nation of laws. ThereĀ is a simple solution for solvingĀ the problems those states face. Those members of Congress favoring theĀ legalizationĀ of the drug should draft a bill that would delete marijuana from the dangerous drug list. If it passes both housesĀ and is signed by the president, problem solved. If not, those affected states may have toĀ forgoĀ the taxes they covet and obeyĀ federal law.
