A Colorado Springs School District 11 teacher has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography, police said Monday.

Mike Hedges, 44, remains in El Paso County jail without bond. He is accused of sexual exploitation of a child, a class 3 felony, police said.

Hedges, who has been employed with the district since 1999, was a science teacher at Russell Middle School, D11 spokeswoman Devra Ashby said. He has been placed on leave while the investigation is pending, but it’s unknown if that leave is paid, she said.

“We will do what we can to cooperate with police,” Ashby said.

Police said there is no indication that any students were victims.
