The Broadmoor, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year, is marking another milestone: AAA has named it a five-diamond winner for the 42nd consecutive year in the travel organization’s annual ratings of hotels and resorts.

The internationally-known hotel, on Colorado Springs’ southwest side, is the only North American property that’s received five diamonds – AAA’s highest rating – each year since the awards were launched in 1976. AAA released its list of four- and five-diamond winners for 2018 on Tuesday.

The Broadmoor doesn’t take its five-diamond rating for granted, said president Jack Damioli. The honor reflects ownership and management commitment, along with hard work by employees, he said. It’s also meaningful to leisure travelers and business groups who have visited The Broadmoor for years.

“One of the things about iconic properties like The Broadmoor, they’re not simply built,” Damioli said. “They kind of evolve over a period of time, meeting the tastes and the demands of the traveling public along the way.”

In Colorado, AAA’s other five-diamond winners for 2018 were The Little Nell in Aspen and the and Four Seasons in Denver. All have received top honors multiple times.
