A week ago, it appeared poised to sell its last Barbie by springtime, but the Toys R Us/Babies R Us store in Aurora will be spared from its company’s bankruptcy-driven closures after all.

The store, located at 1150 S. Ironton St. in the Gardens on Havana shopping center, was on a list of 180 U.S. stores the toy dealer planned to close in 2018, according to an announcement last month, but the company has since taken around a dozen locations off that list including Aurora.

“Additional negotiations” saved the store, according to company officials.

Dealing with a mountain of debt and facing stiff competition lead by e-commerce giant Amazon, Toy R Us first filed for bankruptcy protection in September but kept all of its roughly 900 U.S. stores open through the holiday shopping season.

The list of stores set to shutter is pending court approval and could still change, according to the company. As of right now, Toys R Us is seeking to close stores in more than 40 states, including 11 in its home base of New Jersey. None of Colorado’s seven Toys R Us and Babies R Us are now on the closing list.
