David Chodounsky, Crested Butte
Specialty: Slalom
Age: 33
Chodounsky began racing at tiny Buck Hill in a southern suburb of Minnesota’s Twin Cities, where he was a young teammate of Lindsey Vonn. At age 11 his family moved to Crested Butte and enrolled him at the Crested Butte Academy. He failed to make the U.S. Ski Team after completing high school and enrolled at Dartmouth, where he won the NCAA slalom title his freshman season. After graduating with a duel major in engineering and geology, he made another bid for the national team and this time he succeeded. He has been on the World Cup since 2009 and has one top-five finish. He failed to finish the first run in his only Olympic appearance four years ago in Sochi. He finished 12th at the 2017 world championships in slalom and 11th in giant slalom.
