Maple grew up in Aspen and is at this Olympics. He is largely self-funded, to the tune of $30,000 per year, and isn’t even an official member of the U.S. Ski Team although he travels with them and now has made his first Olympic team. He is likely to race downhill and super-G at PyeongChang.
