The front entrance to Mountain View Elementary School is shown in this Gazette file photo.Police cited a Colorado Springs elementary school student Monday for bringing an unloaded handgun to school to “show off to friends.”
The Mountain View Elementary School student did not use the gun in a threatening manner but was taken into custody after security personnel were notified that a gun was on campus, police said.
The gun had been taken without the parents’ knowledge and was handed over to the school resource officer.
