A man died after he was pulled from Boulder Creek on Friday morning.

A person fly-fishing in the creek near Arapahoe Avenue and 13th Street called police at 7:20 a.m. Friday to report seeing a man facedown and not moving in the creek, Boulder police said.

First responders were able to pull the man from the water and began CPR before he was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The man has not yet been identified. The Boulder County Coroner’s Office would be responsible for releasing his name as well as conducting an autopsy and investigation to determine the cause and manner of death.

Boulder police Sgt. Barry Hartkopp police are not sure yet how the man, who was not homeless, wound up in creek or if foul play was involved.

“It’s too early in the investigation,” Hartkopp said. “We’re looking into everything.”
