An Arvada mother pleaded guilty Monday in Eagle County to vehicular homicide DUI in the deaths of two of her children.

Jenny L. Figaszewski, 46, also pleaded guilty to child abuse resulting in death in connection with a July, 11, 2016, , according to the 5th Judicial District attorney’s office.

Figaszewski was driving east when her BMW sedan drifted onto the left median and flipped two times, according to a news release. Two of her children, ages 14 and 9, died in the crash. Two other children, 7 and 5, survived. The children were not wearing seat belts.

Figaszewski had taken methamphetamine just before beginning the fatal trip in California, the release said.

“This is a horrible tragedy. There is nothing worse than the death of a child. These children are
not statistics, and this plea is a public reckoning for the defendant,” District Attorney Bruce Brown said in the release.

Figaszewski is scheduled to be sentenced May 7 to an expected term of 16 years in prison.
