Fossil Ridge dominates state swimming

Fossil Ridge stole the show at the CHSAA Class 5A state swimming meet in Fort Collins setting a national prep record in the200 medley relay while cruising to its second straight team title.

The Sabercats also scoredmost team points in state meet history, with their score of 424 points besting the prior top mark of 399 set by Cherry Creek in 2010.

Bayley Stewart, Zoe Bartel, Coleen Gillilan and Kylee Alons made history in the 200 medley relay with their time of 1:38.13 as the Sabercats won all three relays and seven of eight individual events.

In Class 4A action in Thornton, to win the program’s first state title.

Four state records were set in the meet — Rampart in the200 medley relay and Valor Christian in the200 freestyle relay, while Fort Collins’Audrey Reimer set Colorado-best marks in the 100 backstroke and 100 fly.

State wrestling meet schedule set

The state wrestling meet will be held Thursday through Saturday at the Pepsi Center, the 83rd annual tournament featuring four classes of the best prep grapplers around Colorado.

The action begins with Thursday’s preliminaries starting at 3 p.m. for2A/3A and 7:15 p.m. for 4A/5A.

Friday’s semifinals are at 7 p.m. for all classes, and Saturday’s title round begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Parade of Champions.
