Jefferson County is accepting applications from those interested in serving on the board of directors for the Regional Transportation District, which is down one director because of Tina Francone’s recent appointment as a Jefferson County commissioner.

Francone, who represented District N for RTD, was sworn in as commissioner last week after being appointed to the post by county Republicans in January. According to state law, Jefferson County has the responsibility of filling the vacancy because District N covers a large portion of the county.

The county will accept applications through midnight Monday .

The position is good only through the end of the year. The appointee, , will have to run for the seat in November if choosing to remain on the board.
