
Michael Reis, who had worked for the agency since 2003 and, before that, for Boulder County since 1990, was asked to resign by the housing authority’s Board of Directors on Thursday.
In an undated photo, Reis can be seen wearing red, white and blue sweatbands and a bronze medal around his neck while standing on a mock Olympic podium, celebrating the Times-Call’s ranking of the unconstitutional searches at The Suites as the No. 3 news story of 2017.
Reis, in an interview Friday, told the Times-Call that a co-worker surprised him with a “poorly timed and stupid morale-boosting effort” as a way to lighten the mood at the office.
He said his staff was worn down after falling under intense public scrutiny last year for inviting Longmont police K-9 officers and their dogs to search apartments in an effort to substantiate drug rumors at The Suites subsidized housing complex.
