After a frigid streak complete with record-breaking sub-zero temperatures, Thursday’s high of 26 degrees might seem balmy for some venturing out in the Denver metro.

Even though temperatures are slightly warming, residents are still subject to a 30 percent chance of snow after 11 a.m. and a 20 percent chance of snow showers before 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Boulder.

Don’t expect to break out the shovel just yet.

If snow graces the Front Range, meteorologists predict less than an inch will stick.

The mountains could see up to two inches of fresh powder.

The daytime is expected to be mostly cloudy with calm afternoon winds. A nighttime low of 11 degrees means begs for the warmest pair of flannel pajamas.

Snow is more likely Friday across the entire Front Range.

The high country could get 3 to 6 inches of new snow Friday. The metro area might see 1 to 3 inches, with the heavier amounts accumulating in the northeastern plains, the weather service said.

Temperatures could climb all the way to 33 degrees with a 40 percent chance of a nighttime snow dusting that might accumulate less than a half inch.

Clouds are expected to hang around most of the day with patchy fog Friday morning. The nighttime low could dip to 17 degrees.

While still chilly, the weekend is looking mostly sun and dry, the weather service said.

Sunshine and a high of 37 degrees are expected for Saturday, with wind gusts as high as 23 miles per hour.

For Sunday, the sun should stick around with a high near 38.
