Denver got its first taste of long-awaited burger chain Shake Shack when the restaurant popped up serving burgers and fries inside The Source on Saturday.

Fans waited for hours in a line that wove through the market hall and out to the back of the RiNo parking garage where heat lamps kept them warm. A 35-degree day couldn’t stop these burger lovers who are looking forward to Denver’s first shop opening in the neighborhood this summer.

Just before Denver was served its first ShackBurgers, owner Danny Meyer had Shake Shack COO Zack Koff make an announcement: There will be a second Shake Shack location in Colorado by the end of the year.

Shake Shack Highlands Ranch will open this summer, bringing crinkle fries, burgers, frozen custard and even ‘shroom burgers to hungry folks down south.

The fast casual restaurant chain based in New York City announced its expansion to Denver in , and West Coast favorite In-N-Out followed (That one will be a much longer wait, since no opening date is on the horizon.) Bring it on; Denver is ready for some (more) burger wars.

We are still waiting to hear when Shake Shack RiNo will open this summer. We’ll bring you all the burger openings as soon as we hear them.
