Obviously the officials who forced Larry Eustachy out at Colorado State University never played for a tough coach. In my day, football coaches came on the field with the following three things: a whistle, a clipboard and a paddle. I am still in touch with them today and I am 73 years old. I can remember Nuggets coach Doug Moe’s tie swirling around in the air as he went into a hissy fit over some player’s error. His name hangs in the rafters at the Pepsi Center.
Tough love has become passe in our schools and our homes, and now it’s spread to the athletic arena. A coach can’t lose his temper and yell at a player? I call B.S.
