A 46-year-old woman was found dead in her cell with a trash bag over her head at the Jefferson County Detention Facility in Golden early Thursday morning, officials say.
Jennifer Brooks was found unresponsive at 3:48 a.m. Deputies immediately attempted to resuscitate her but were unsuccessful, said Mark Techmeyer, sheriff’s office spokesman. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Brooks was arrested on July 13 for investigation of assault, vehicular eluding, felony menacing and reckless endangerment.
Deputies continue to investigate Brooks’ death.
