Re: “Lively protest draws on #MeToo movement, calls for Denver mayor to resign over text messaging scandal,” March 7 news story.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock could care less that his behavior might cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars, because it’s not coming out of his own pocket. Some immunity is necessary because of the job, but not when it comes to personal misconduct — the fact that he might never be asked to repay us is an offense in itself.
Indeed Hancock’s political career isn’t even on life support — it’s already in the morgue — and the longer he continues in office, the more of an embarrassment he becomes.
Richard L. Mattingly, Denver
Believe me, I am no fan of Denver Mayor Michael Hancock, but to call for his resignation for simply flirting is preposterous. Flirting is defined as coquetry without serious intentions.
FYI, women: First try an “I” about your feelings without being accusatory, like “I am uncomfortable with your comments.”FYI, men: If a woman says anything like that to you, stop or you are a total doofus and asking for trouble.
Sure, the cops have issues with the mayor, but this flap is just another example of the intolerance and stridency of so-called progressives.
