The University of Colorado Boulder has proposed an $873 million budget that will address campus maintenance, secure insurance funds and compensate faculty for the 2018-19 academic year.

Last year’s budget was about $823 million.

Gov. John Hickenlooper, who released the state’s budget proposal in November, proposed 9.7 percent or $86.9 million increase in higher education funding over the previous year, according to state budget documents.

The university won’t know how much money it will get from from the state until May, and the university’s budget will not be finalized until June, Ken McConellogue, university spokesman, said.

The university proposes increasing spending for controlled maintenance by $3.7 million to $20.2 million.
