Mike Pence set to speak at Space Symposium in Colorado Springs next month

The April 16-19 event will mark at least the fourth Colorado visit for the vice president since last summer

Vice President Mike Pence is slated to speak next month at the Space Symposium in Colorado Springs.

The Republican’s speech will come April 16 as part of a special presentation to precede the symposium’s open ceremony.

“The vice presidentap participation at the symposium indicates the priority this White House is placing on America’s position in space,” Thomas E. Zelibor, chief executive officer of the Space Foundation, said in a written statement.

The Space Symposium, the 34th iteration of the event, is scheduled for April 16-19 at The Broadmoor hotel. Thousands of people typically attend , which focuses on technology, innovation and defense.

The appearance will add to the list of Colorado visits Pence has made since President Donald Trump took office.

He spoke in June 2017 in Colorado Springs at the 40th-anniversary celebration of Focus on the Family and returned in October for a Colorado Republican Party dinner. Pence and his family also made a Christmastime visit to Aspen.
