A suspect is in custody after a fatal shooting in Aurora Friday afternoon, police said.
The shooting happened before 5:30 p.m. in the area of East 13th Avenue and Sable Boulevard.
UPDATE: One party has been taken into custody and there is no danger to the public now. This is now being investigated as a homicide. No further updates expected.

At the time of the shooting, residents of the area were told to “shelter in place.” At 6:05 p.m., police said the shooting was fatal and the suspect has been taken into custody.
The shooting victim was found inside a residence and taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The shooter had fled the residence on foot and police saturated the area setting up a perimeter looking for the suspect. A reverse 911 notification was made to area residents warning them of the situation.
Officers knew the identity of the suspect as the search commenced. He was taken into custody a few blocks from the shooting scene. The shooting victim will be identified later by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
An investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be identified at a later time.
Police in Aurora responded to two other shootings on Friday, one in the area of East Mississippi Avenue and South Peoria Street in which a woman was taken to a local hospital. Shots were also fired at the Town Center of Aurora.
