

They’re really emphasizing the “madness” in March Madness this year, aren’t they?
Opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament brought with it a bevy of bracket busters. There were a total of 15 upsets in the first two rounds. I mean, how many of you had No. 16 UMBC going over No. 1 Virginia? (Well, .)
Let’s break it down: Two No. 1 seeds are gone (Virginia and Xavier). Two No. 2 seeds are out (North Carolina and Cincinnati). Two No. 3 seeds lost (Michigan State and Tennessee). There’s only one No. 4 seed that’s still in it (Gonzaga). No. 5 Kentucky is highest remaining seed in the south region. And, woof, what a rough year for the Pac-12 — only three teams in the tournament and all three were bounced in their first games.
While Colorado didn’t have a team in race this year, several former local prep stars made an impact this weekend, including Purdue’s Matt Haarms, who’s become .
