A Fort Collins man was arrested March 15 for investigation of possessing about 700,000 digital child pornography files, according to the Fort Collins Police Services.

Thomas Christopher Mares, 53, allegedly possessed 676,000 images and 18,000 videos, Fort Collins police said.

Fort Collins police and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children estimated Mares had been collecting the sexually explicit files for 10 to 15 years.
