The Denver Police Department continues its search for escaped jail inmate Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez a week and a half after he slipped away from sheriff deputies during an appointment at Denver Health Medical Center.

A police spokesman said authorities are still asking for the public’s help in finding 23-year-old Venzor-Gonzalez, who was being held on attempted murder charges. Although people should not approach him as he is considered dangerous.

Venzor-Gonzalez escaped from deputies on March 19. In September, he allegedly abducted his girlfriend and their 1½-year-old son at gunpoint, sparking an Amber Alert. He later got into a shoot-out with a police officer and was shot three times.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement had requested a release notification for Venzor-Gonzalez.

While looking for Venzor-Gonzalez, Denver police officers shot two other men, killing one.
