The Kings forward and team captain has established career highs in goals (35), assists (54) and points (89), and remains one of the NHL’s elite defensive forwards. Kopitar, a Hart Trophy candidate who scored four goals in L.A.’s 7-1 victory against the host Avalanche on March 22, is the league’s only player with at least 80 points and averaging more than two minutes of penalty kill ice-time per game. Los Angeles is tied with San Jose as the top penalty-killing team in the NHL at 85.1 percent.
