A much-anticipated report about the troubling workplace climate at the Colorado General Assembly is ready, but it will remain secreted from the public for days.

The outside review by Investigations Law Group — which cost taxpayers $120,000 — is scheduled to be delivered to top lawmakers Monday, but it will not become a public record until the legislative meets later this week.

Colorado lawmakers ordered the review in the wake of numerous sexual harassment complaints and investigations that exposed what some believe is a toxic culture at the Capitol.

The panel’s meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, but now Senate leaders are considering delaying it to Thursday because of the budget debate. The language keeping it secret until the committee meets is part of the contract that won approval from the leaders of both legislative chambers and both political parties.

Senate President Kevin Grantham, a Canon City Republican, said Monday morning he had not seen the report yet but believes it should be released promptly for public review.

Five Colorado lawmakers have faced formal complaints for sexual harassment since the #MeToo movement began in late 2017, and one was expelled.
