A Ponderosa High School student was arrested Monday after police searched her vehicle and found a handgun.
Margaret Goeldner, 18, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm on school grounds, juvenile under 21 in possession of a handgun, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Goeldner was taken into custody on school grounds. She became the focus of an investigation Monday via Text-A-Tip, according to a news release.
“We are very thankful for the person(s) who brought this to our attention today, your honesty and bravery helped us to remove a weapon from school grounds and eliminate the possibility of any harm to the student body,” the sheriff’s office said.
Text-A-Tip is an anonymous reporting system that students can use to report crime directly to authorities and the school district.
