A 58-year-old woman was killed early Tuesday morning in Douglas County when the vehicle she was driving crashed through fences in four back yards before slamming into a deck, officials say.

Teresa Hood of Highlands Ranch was killed in the crash, according to the Douglas County Coroner’s Office.

The crashed happened at 2:03 a.m. off of University Avenue east of Crest Hill Lane, said Lauren Lekander, spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators do not believe the woman was speeding at the time of the crash, and there is no evidence so far that she had been drinking alcohol or using drugs, LeKander said.

The demolished car ended up on its top. Investigators are investigating what led to the crash.

“She went through four yards before hitting a deck,” she said.
