The GOP vacancy committee chose Holbert to fill out Weaver’s remaining term, which ends in January. Weaver left the board to accept a job as the U.S. marshal for the District of Colorado, a position President Donald Trump appointed him to late last year.

This is the second appointment of a county commissioner by a Republican vacancy committee this year in the metro area. Tina Francone got the nod in January to fill a vacant commissioner seat in Jefferson County.

Holbert immediately vacated her role as treasurer after she was appointed to the board of commissioners. She was sworn into office this week.
