The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 16-year-old Monday for making threats against Battle Mountain High School in Edwards.

The sheriff’s office said students reported the threats to school faculty the week before the arrest. Authorities deemed the threats to be credible, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

Authorities did not disclose the teen’s name or gender. Additionally, the nature of the threat was not explained. A sheriff spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a call and email.

The teen was charged with interference with an educational facility and is being held at a juvenile facility, according to the sheriff’s office. There are no ongoing safety concerns at the school.

“I want to thank the vigilant students and staff who brought information forward and assisted with this investigation to keep our students and school safe,” Sheriff James Van Beek said in a statement. “They saw and heard something and said something and potentially saved lives.”

Schools in Colorado and across the nation have seen an increasing number of threats since the shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida. The , a national organization, typically tracked around 10 threats and incidents per day. That number jumped to more than 70 per day after Parkland.

A 15-year-old was arrested Tuesday night on two felony charges for allegedly threatening to harm other students in the town of Elbert.
