Hinkley High School was on lockdown Wednesday afternoon as police searched the area for a potential gunman.

The Aurora Police Department received a report that someone at the school — potentially a student — had a gun, spokesman Bill Hummel said. After searching the area, police did not find a gunman. There were no shots fired, nor were any injuries reported.

Police are still investigating the incident to see if there was any credibility.

The report first came in around 2:10 p.m. Police were conducting a controlled release of students by 3:40 p.m.

The high school is located near Chambers Road and Interstate 70.
