center on Thursday was named a finalist for the NHL’s Ted Lindsay Award, given to the league’s most outstanding player, as voted by members of the players’ association.
left wingTaylor Hall and last year’s winner, Connor McDavid of the , were the other two finalists.
MacKinnon, 22, recorded career highs in goals (39), assists (58) and points (97), leading the Avs to the playoffs for the first time since the 2013-14 season. The two-time all-star finished second in the league in points per game (1.31), a sliver behind McDavid’s 1.32.
His 97 points were the most by an Avalanche player since had 100 during the 2006-07 season.
The award winner will be announced on June 20 at the 2018 NHL Awards in Las Vegas.
