A Colorado State Patrol Trooper’s American idol Kelly Clarkson didn’t make the trooper wait a lifetime for a moment like this: a Twitter shoutout encouraging the man’s request for a backstage pass to the singer’s upcoming show.
Trooper Josh Lewis, often the face of CSP through the department’s social media, pictures and videos, tweeted a photo of himself on Wednesday kissing a computer monitor with pop star Clarkson’s face as the background.
Hey Trooper Lewis, did you hear @kelly_clarkson is coming to Colorado?
(High pitches squealing) “Really?! One free ‘get out of jail’ card to whomever gets me backstage to meet her!”*

Lewis joked that whoever got him a backstage pass to Clarkson’s free Colorado Springs concert on June 2 would receive a “get out of jail” card. The trooper added the card was not binding or real “except in Monopoly.”
Later that night, Clarkson responded saying “somebody has to get this man a pass” because Lewis deserved it.
Okay somebody has got to get this man a pass 🤣🤣🤣 he deserves it! 😜💁🏼♀️

, Clarkson will perform at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs as part of the opening ceremony for the 2018 Warrior Games. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Free tickets will be available to the public at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8.
Lewis did not immediately respond to a request for comment early Thursday morning, as he was likely still rendered immobile from a star-struck state.
However, the trooper caught up with the Denver Post a bit later to say that his visceral reaction upon seeing the attention from Clarkson consisted of screenshots and unbelief.
“It was very unexpected, but certainly exciting,” Lewis said. “We can appreciate her humor, too, and hope we can count her and her followers in joining us in our crusade for safety. I’m going to be standing in line to get tickets and will, hopefully, be able to see her live.”
