Colorado Rockies’ DJ LeMahieu strikes out while trying to check his swing on a pitch from Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Freddy Peralta in the third inning of a baseball game Sunday, May 13, 2018, in Denver. Getting your player ready...
The Rockies placed second baseman DJ LeMahieu on the 10-day disabled list on Monday with a left thumb sprain suffered in Colorado’s loss to the Brewers on Sunday.
The sprain came during LeMahieu’s third at-bat against Freddy Peralta, and with the injury, the all-star is headed to the D.L. for the second time this season. He was also shelved for 10 days with a strained right hamstring on April 30.
With the move, Colorado recalled infielder Pat Valaika from Triple-A Albuquerque.
Valaika, sent down on May 8 when LeMahieu came back from his hamstring injury, has hit .103 in 58 major league at-bats in 2018.
